IRATY - A mountain site situated at an altitude of between 1,200 and 1,500 m. One of the largest extents of forest in Eur. made up of beech and fir trees, covering about 17,000 hectares astride the Franco-Spanish frontier (2,300 ha in France). Can be reached both via St-Jean-Pied-de-Port and via Mauleon and Tardets. Some very picturesque routes, especially from the Pic d'Orhy to Larrau. Megalithic remains.
