| PIC D'ORHY : 2,017 m high - the highest point in the Soule province (and in the French Basque Country, if we except the Pic d'Anie which is not strictly speaking on Basque soil). Very near the village of Larrau. Most of the summits along the 20 kms or so between this peak and the Pic d'Anie to the east are over 1,800 metres high. « Orhiko xoria Orhin laket » (the bird born at Orhy is happy at Orhy) says a local proverb, to express the attachment of Souletin people to their land, a touch of chauvinism... justified if we consider the beauty of the surrounding scenery. GR10 and HRP hiking trails nearby. |
