HOLZARTE - Like Kakoueta, this is one of the most spectacular canyons of upper Soule (there are 5 altogether) between Larrau and Sainte-Engrâce, dug out of the limestone bed-rock of the mountain by glacial meltwater. The gorges are in places almost 200 m deep. A narrow footbridge, accessible to walkers and dating back to 1920, spans the canyon 171 m above the torrent. Approach via Mauleon, Tardets and Logibar.
