OSTABAT-ASME (Orpustan's analysis of the name is rather complicated : Ostabat or OZTIBARR in Basque is the name of a little village farther south called Hosta Valley or « Hozta » in Basque, meaning cold place. But the Basque name of the former village is IZURA, slope, which refers to the older location of the village before it became a fortified site. As for ASME, it is probably derived from « aitz + pe », at the bottom of the rocky height... which can be compared to ASPE) Not even 200 inhabitants (Izuratar), but a historic gathering place for pilgrims on their way to Compostella. Not to be missed !
